Herbs for Health and Healing - A drug-free GuideThe organization of this highly informative book allows the reader to read straight through, or us as a reference - easy to find the information needed. I found this book along with others of similar topic in my local library. I kept straying to this one, causing me to order one of my own. In comparison to my own discoveries, this book is right on track. Mostly, I've learned much from it!
Essential reference any herbalist must have!I absolutely love this book, and have yet to find one that rivals the information & layout of this book. Very informative, but easy to read--excellent for the beginner!!!
Best practical herbal guide I have found!I have to give you my opinion of Kathi Keville's book, HERBS FOR HEALTH AND HEALING. My husband purchased this book for me, having no idea if I would like it or not. I have so many herbal references that I thought, "Oh well, I might be able to find SOMETHING new in here." I couldn't believe how well researched and thorough this is! Although I have many books, magazines, etc., I honestly don't know what I would do without this book. The reason I contacted this site in the first place was to try to get more of her books. This would be an excellent choice for any experienced or beginner herbalist (or for any one simply interested in a holistic approach to medicine) to have and use frequently; I HIGHLY recommend it

Aromatherapy: A Complete Guide to the Healing Art
Published in Paperback by Crossing Press (October, 1995)
Average review score:

This book is an invaluable asset to the aromatherapy novice.Let me start by saying I love this book! Finally a complete guide that is easy to read and affordable. The descriptions, explanations, and step-by-step preparation methods are written for the novice and are easy to follow. I especially like the quick reference on page 30 outlining the basic essential oils. I copied it onto a piece of bright purple paper and put it on my refrigerator for easy reference. The book is full of them, and I think they're wonderful to use in concocting new, safe and different aromatherapy mixtures. Likewise I enjoyed the herbal, aromatic recipes in chapter ten. I would have liked, though, to have seen photos or drawings of some of the major herbs and procedures described throughout the book. Since I am just beginning in my studies in aromatherapy, it would have been nice to have a visual reference to look to after reading about a specific herb's positive attributes and usage. That said, Kathi Keville and Mindy Green have done a remarkable job of translating the seemingly enigmatic language of aromatherapy. The charts in chapter four are especially helpful. Now lavender oil has become a relaxing addition to all my baths!
Thorough, practical and clearly written. This is a very practical and sensibly written book that touches on every aspect of Aromatherapy and leaves you with a clear understanding of essential oils without getting too lengthy or technical. Occassional anecdotes make reading this book more interesting and the many charts make things easy at a glance. This is a great book for beginners and the more experienced as well.

Excellent Book!I would highly recommend this book. I attended one of Kathi's workshops on using herbs and essential oils for first aid and she is a wonderful teacher. I subsequently bought her book (one of the many she has published) and have found them easy to read and very informative. I have made at least 10 of her essential oil recipes for myself, my friends and my family with terrific results. I recommend this book for both experienced aromatherapists and novices alike. It also makes an excellent gift!

Aromatherapy For Dummies®
Published in Paperback by For Dummies (August, 1999)

This should be the first book you should read !I was looking at several aromatherapy books before actually buying one. I must have looked at dozens of books..Being a beginner, this was by far the most entertaining and educational book out there on aromatherapy! Many books are very informative, but not a particularly interesting read. In this case, the humour and easy going manner of the book makes you want to read on and on. The chapters are well organized, and there is even a symptom & oil directory. If you are just beginning, this is the book to start your aromatherapy collection!!!!

Has concise information bits from leading clinicians who work with sick patients, NOT test tubes!
Kathi Keville really knows her stuff!I have several of Kathi's books, but this one is most helpful. As a chef, I am on my feet alot. fatigue is something I am very familar with. I was a childhood friend of the author and would love to e-mail her. Is there a web site or address?

Women's Herbs, Women's Health
Published in Paperback by Interweave Press (July, 1998)
Average review score:

Clear and easy to follow herbal healing techniques for womenThis book is a joy to read and use. I look through many books in my work as a public librarian, and this is one of the best on herbal remedies to arrive in recent months. The basic preparations for herbs are described, clearing up much of the "mystery" surrounding words like "tincture" and "decoction." The chapters correspond to different types of ailments and/or the corresponding regions of the female body. Each chapter begins with an overview of the ailment/s, and a VERY helpful "What a Doctor Will Do" section - the authors are advocating herbal treatments to supplement, not replace, traditional medical care. Recipes for herbal preparations are presented as just that - recipes. They are easy to spot in the text and very simple to follow. Most of the herbs included are available at local health food stores; the remainder can be purchased from mail order sources, listed at the back of the volume. An interesting read crammed full of useful health information. I highly recommend this title, especially for those new to the practice of herbal healing.
